Black History Now 2022
The 2022 Black History Now! Series presented by the City of Portsmouth’s Department of Museums and Tourism and Library Department. Now in its seventh season, taking place from mid-January through February. The series will commemorate African American heritage with events, programs, lectures, family activities, and more. Topics relate to current museum exhibitions and highlight local people and history. Find subject matters ranging from Black baseball in Hampton Roads to African chocolate to the use of urban slavery in the construction of the oldest dry dock in North America in this year’s lineup.
